Our First "Open Day" in April was a Big Success!

The sun shined and there were a lot more visitors than we had expected! They had cakes and coffee, beer and grilled sausages, hot waffles and cold drinks and lots of laughs. Our dogs were being spoilt for hours, photos taken, children's faces painted, information exchanged - and the abandoned animals in their brand new large open-air enclosures rejoiced with us the scenery.

Almost everyone left at the end with big bags from the flea market or the "Second Hand Store" – no wonder, as we had proposed ourselves to offer only beautiful items at very attractive prices! New and antique stuff, clothing and footwear, animal food and accessories (including homemade tuna biscuits for dogs!), paintings and children's toys - there was more than enough available for everybody!

Recently three large outdoor enclosures have been built where our dogs can run and play. This "Open day" event was meant to give us the money to build two new outdoor enclosures for cats, so that they can also enjoy good quality time with us until their adoption. That way they can leave the cat house and sleep in the shadow underneath the big tree whenever they want and even climb as they like to do. It looks like we have been able to collect enough money to realize this purpose.

Apart from this we received a donation of 1,000 Euros for our poor dog Tintin in order to have his leg operated, which suffers of a complicated fracture.

Also we would like to thank the Ayuntamiento de Calvià for providing us with tables and chairs, and all the necessary "permisos" for our party. And at last - but not least! – we are very thankful to the media from newspapers to “Inselradio” for helping us to promote our event - they surely contributed a lot to attracting the animal lovers all over the island!.And of course, thanks to all our visitors, without you non of this would have been possible.
